About Us

Darren is the Lead Instructor for all of the junior programming at the TJGA. A full time Teaching Professional, Darren graduated from the Education Department at York University in 1990 and has been teaching with The Simcoe District School Board, specializing in elementary physical education, for the past 15 years. In 2002, he obtained his CPGA card and has since completed seminars 1 through 4 of the Teaching and Coaching Certification Program. In 2004, Darren worked with the Royal Canadian Golf Association operating the Future Links van in Southern Ontario. His teaching philosophy is based upon scientific research regarding the biomechanics of the golf swing. Darren looks forward to taking the lead overseeing all of the many junior programs and events at the club this year.

Derek is a C.P.G.A. Elite Class "A" Teaching Professional whose teaching philosophy includes the science of the golf swing as it relates to Swing Path, Club Face Position and Biomechanics with an emphasis on the core fundamentals of Posture, Grip and Alignment. Derek has completed the CPGA’s Teaching and Coaching Certification Program levels 1,2,3, and 4 and shares his knowledge of the golf swing through monthly editorial in Bay Area Golf Magazine and Score Golf Canada. Derek is also currently working with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association to introduce golf to children.

Rob Wilson was an assistant professional for four years at the Rattlesnake Point Golf Club in Milton ON. At Rattlesnake Point Rob was very involved in the instruction of the junior clinics, junior camps and score magazine women's golf schools. Rob spent the next two seasons at the Rocky Crest Golf Club in Muskoka, as the Head teaching professional.

At Rocky Crest he ran all clinics, corporate outings, junior programs and private lesson instruction. Rob joined the Tom Jackson Golf Academy at the OslerBrook Golf Club in Collingwood in 2005. Here he has helped build and instruct the Summer Instructional programs as well as the Indoor Winter Golf Academy which proved to be very popular amongst the local golfers and skiers this past winter.

Tom Jackson is a Class A member of the Canadian Professional Golfer’s Association. He has been a Golf Professional for 27 years and brings a wealth of knowledge to The Tom Jackson Golf Academy here at OslerBrook through his extensive playing and teaching background. Tom played for 12 years on the Canadian, Australian and Asian tours, the former Nike tour as well as many tournaments worldwide. Having played with some of the finest players of his time, Tom understands what it takes to compete at the highest level.

This knowledge of how to swing the golf club and play the game with the best in the world provides Tom’s student with the opportunity to advance their game to whatever level they wish to attain.

Tony Rubes is a Class “A” CPGA Professional. He has worked as an Assistant Professional at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto and at the Barrie Country Club. After completing all four levels of the CPGA Teaching and Coaching Program he continued his education by attending the PGA of America’s Teaching and Coaching Summit in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He has also worked with professionals from The Leadbetter Academy and Advantage Golf Schools. He brings a wealth of knowledge of the golf swing, playing shots and playing the game to the Tom Jackson Golf Academy and Oslerbrook Golf and Country Club.
